What are the concerns?

Diethanolamine (DEA) function as emulsifiers to produce foam and bubbles in cosmetics and also adjusts the product’s pH value.

DEA can interact with other ingredients to create “nitrosodiethanolamine (NDEA)” which is carcinogenic (potential to cause cancer).

DEA is corrosive to eyes and can cause skin irritation.

DEA is toxic to aquatic animals and can cause cancer in animals.

Nonylphenol ethoxylate (NPE) are surfactents used in cleaning agents and detergents.

NPE is an endocrine disruptors meaning they can interfere with endocrine (or hormone) systems at certain doses.

The disruptions can rescult in cancers, tumors, birth defects, and other developmental disorders.

Triclosan is an antibacterial and antifungal agent used in many consumer products. Lab studies have shown that triclosan alters hormone regulation in animals.

Bacteria exposure to tricolan may develop resistance leading to superbugs.

Parabens are used as preservatives in many products.
Parabens mimic estrogen and can promote some types of breast cancer cells.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) currently allows for its use in cosmetics.
